This is an extension of the Doorage Terms of Service. This document outlines the Protection Plans available to Doorage customers. Definitions for some key terms not found here are otherwise defined in Doorage’s User Agreement.
The best way to protect your Stored Items against being damage while in transport or storage is to property pack the items. All Protection Plans require that you use Doorage’s Containers to store your items and that you provide Doorage with photographic inventory of your stored Items. Items packed in boxes or containers other than Doorage Container’s or Packaging will be accepted for storage but will not be covered under Doorage’s Protection Plan.
Doorage offers four levels of protection for damaged or lost items.
Zero Protection Plan – If you elect for zero protection, Doorage will provide no coverage for any damage, loss, or theft, while being serviced, in storage, or in transit. This damage waiver releases Doorage from any financial responsibility to the customer. We highly recommend against this option.
Basic Plan – Doorage covers your items under the Basic Plan at a cost of $10.00 per month for a reimbursement to you in the amount of $0.60 per pound for lost or damaged items. This Basic Plan will not reimburse you for the “actual value” of the items but is based solely on weight of the items up to a lifetime maximum of $1,000. This reimbursement is considered a lifetime maximum and once you have reached this maximum, you no longer qualify for any Protection Plan through Doorage; however, you may submit an application for review to be re-instated.
Gold Plan – Coverage under Doorage’s Gold Plan can be provided at a cost of $20.00 per month. Under the Gold Plan, Doorage will reimburse you up to $1,500 of the “actual cash value” of any lost or damaged items (subject to the terms of this Policy). Actual Cash Value covers the depreciated value as a maximum. Doorgage, in its sole discretion may reimburse for reasonable repair or replacement. This reimbursement is considered a lifetime maximum and once you have reached this maximum, you no longer qualify for any Protection Plan through Doorage; however, you may submit an application for review to be re-instated.
Platinum Plan – Doorage will provide coverage under the Platinum Plan at a cost of $30.00 per month. Under this Platinum Plan, Doorage will reimburse you up to $2,000 of the “actual cash value” of any lost or damaged items (subject to the terms of this Policy).
If you purchase a Basic Plan, Gold Plan or Platinum Plan and subsequently cancel that plan or fail to make payments, your coverage will immediately terminate and your items in storage will have no protection against loss or damage. If your plan terminates due to missed or late payments, you can restore your previous plan by resuming your payments and paying any outstanding invoices. Once a protection plan terminates, there will be no coverage until a plan is reinstated, and coverage will begin on the reinstatement date.
Under the Basic Plan, and subject to the terms, limitations, exclusions, and conditions of this Limited Security Warranty Policy and the User Agreement, Doorage will reimburse you for:
Unless you have purchased one of Doorage’s Protection Plans, under no circumstances shall Doorage have any liability, or any responsibility to reimburse you for any damage to any Stored Items that Doorage has not individually and specifically inspected, packed, sealed and photographed including without limitation any items inside or in some way obscured by other items or packaging and any such items shall be excluded from coverage. Aside from anything to the contrary, Doorage shall have the right in its sole discretion to inspect and determine the value of any alleged damages to a Stored Item, household or personal effects, the value of a lost Stored Item, and whether any allegedly damaged Stored Item, household or personal effect is capable of being repaired. Please visit www.doorage.com for more details, including current rates for additional protection, and/or to purchase additional protection.
You are free later to cancel the Basic, Gold, or Platinum Protection Plan. However, cancellation or failure to make payments each month consequently terminates your Protection Plan and your items will have no protection through Doorage. Once you have selected your level of Protection Plan, you can upgrade or change your protection to a higher level of protection. You may, however, cancel your additional protection at any time after submitting proof of separate / independent coverage to Doorage.com. Failure to make payments to your account will automatically convert your Protection Plan to no Doorage Protection Plan.
In order to eligible for coverage under any Protection Plan, you must have fully completed the Doorage Claim Form and have complied with the following: (i) provide photographs of your Stored Items (in order for Doorage to confirm the pre-packing condition of the Stored Items); (ii) pack your Stored Items into boxes (“Doorage Containers”); (iii) promptly examine your Doorage Containers and Stored Items when Doorage returns your Doorage Container(s) to you; and (iv) immediately notify the Doorage representative who returns/delivered your Doorage Container(s), in writing of any loss of or damage to your Stored items (determined at the time of delivery) not more than five (5) days from the date of delivery; and (v) read and agree to abide by the terms of the Doorage Damage Claim Form (subsections (i) through (v) of this paragraph, collectively, the “Warranty Requirements”). The Doorage Damage Claim Form for customers with a purchased protection plan can be obtained via email request to claims@doorage.com.
Upon receiving notice of lost or damaged Stored Items, Doorage will investigate the cause of loss for damage. If Doorage determines in its sole discretion, that the loss or damage was due to unauthorized tampering with or access to the Stored Items contained within your Doorage Container, Doorage will pay to you either (i) the cost of repair of the damaged Stored Items (up to the aggregate per-User limited expressly set forth herein and selected you), or (ii) the current replacement fair-market value of the lost or damaged Stored Items whichever is less (up to the aggregate per-User limited expressly set for the therein and selected by your), whichever is less. Doorage shall be entitled to proof of the initial purchase price, repair cost, replacement value, and/or fair-market value of any damaged or lost Stored Items.
You agree that Doorage shall have not liability for any loss of or damage to any Stored Items if (i) you breach or have breached any provisions of the Agreement, or (ii) you fail or have failed to comply with any of the Warranty Requirements above, including without limitation, any failure to provide photographs taken of any missing or damaged Stored Items prior to packing the Stored Items; or (iii) you fail to notify Doorage of any or lost or damaged Stored Items within the five (5) day period immediately following the delivery. The Limited Security Warranty is not insurance and should not be considered a replacement or stand in for any separate insurance coverage. Doorage strongly encourages you to purchase independent insurance for all of your Stored Items.
The Limited Security Warranty does not apply to, and Doorage shall not in any event be liable for, any loss or damage that falls into the following categories: (i) loss of or damage to the Stored Items which does not arise as a direct consequence of any breach of this Agreement by Doorage or any willful or grossly negligent act or omission in the party of Doorage or its contractors; (ii) loss of or damage to any Prohibited Stored Items (as defined in the Agreement); (iii) loss of or damage to composite wood items, such as pressboard, particle board or ready-to-assemble furniture; (iv) loss or damage to the internal workings of electronic items; (v) missing hardware for items Doorage did not disassemble; (vi) loss or damage to items that were previously damaged or repaired; (vii) loss of business, sales, revenue, profits or anticipated savings; (viii) loss of or damage which was not reasonably foreseeable at the date of entering into this Agreement, regardless as to how such loss or damage was caused; (ix) loss or damage due to emotional distress; or (x) consequential damages of any nature or character; and/or (xi) loss of or damage to Stored Items in connection with any Force Majeure Event (as defined in the User Agreement).
